Copilot is not one product. Microsoft 365 Copilot works in the Office apps a person already uses, on content they can open. Copilot in Power BI helps with a report only as far as the model and the tenant settings allow. Copilot Studio is where you build an assistant with a knowledge source and actions.
Training keeps those apart. Finance and revenue examples lead: a question about a bookings definition, a draft of a variance comment, a contract search. Anything that would send a message, change a forecast, or post a number stays with a person.
A user copies unpublished numbers into a prompt because it is faster. Training covers what not to paste, what the tool can already see through their own access, and when a question should go to the metric owner instead.
A generated visual can use the wrong measure and look confident. We show how to check the measure name and the refresh, and when to abandon the generated answer. The semantic model remains the definition.
An agent grounded on 'everything' will answer from the wrong document. We teach a bounded knowledge source, the questions it should refuse, and the actions it must not take alone.
Executives, report authors, and agent builders do not need the same lab. We split the session so nobody leaves thinking 365 Copilot edited the ledger.
Hypothetical example. A revenue manager asks an assistant why pipeline fell. In this hypothetical, the assistant mixes a sample CRM note with a different week's forecast and does not show a source. Training uses that labeled failure to practice the check: which system, which week, which measure, and when to stop and ask finance. It is not a claim about a live model.
Participants leave able to tell the products apart, use the one you approved, and refuse an answer that cannot show its source.
Which Copilot experiences are turned on, for whom, and what they can reach. We do not train people on a feature your tenant does not have.
Questions that are safe, questions that need a metric owner, and questions an agent must refuse. Sample content is labeled as sample.
No unattended send, post, or forecast change. If Copilot Studio is in scope, the lab includes a human confirmation step.
