What we typically cover

  • One place for the numbers reports and AI share
  • A reliable refresh from the systems you have
  • Checks so a bad load does not reach the meeting
  • A handoff your team can operate

Problems this addresses

Microsoft Fabric is a fit when finance, revenue, and the people who prepare their numbers need one place to share figures. Power BI reports, a lakehouse or warehouse, and the refresh behind them can sit on capacity you already run, instead of a fresh export every Sunday night.

The outcome we care about is a number leadership can open, a time stamp they can trust, and a person who knows what to do when the refresh misses. Fabric is the tool for that when it matches the estate you have. It is not a reason to rebuild every system you already run.

Reports and the data behind them live apart

Analysts keep a private copy so the dashboard will load. Finance keeps another copy so the close pack will tie. The two copies drift. Fabric is useful when the report and the prepared figures share OneLake, so a change to the definition shows up in the meeting instead of in a side file.

The Monday number is late and nobody knows why

A refresh fails overnight and the meeting still uses yesterday's file, or worse, a partial one. Leaders need to see that the load did not finish. We make the failure visible and name who checks it, instead of hiding the miss inside a long technical log nobody in finance opens.

Draft work and the official pack share a workspace

When anyone can publish next to the close report, the official pack is hard to find. Domains and workspaces give finance a place to publish and everyone else a place to draft. That is an operating choice, not a settings tour.

Data is copied because it was easier than pointing at it

Shortcuts can leave data where it already lives and still let a report use it. Copying everything into a new lake duplicates the argument about which copy is current. We use a shortcut when the source should stay the source, and a prepared table when finance needs a checked figure.

Hypothetical example. A revenue team rebuilds a weekly bookings file from the CRM every Friday because the warehouse table and the Power BI report disagree on end date. In this hypothetical, the report is filtered to the calendar week and the table is filtered to the fiscal week. Fabric does not choose the calendar. The assessment writes that rule down, then shows one week both ways before anyone moves historical files.

What you leave with

You leave with a Fabric setup scoped to the reports and decisions in play, a refresh finance can see, and a short operating note. We do not hand over an empty capacity and call it a platform.

A home for the figures reports should share

A lakehouse or a warehouse, chosen for the workload and explained in plain language. Transaction history and a modeled finance mart are different jobs. We say which one you are getting and what it is for.

Connections from the systems you already have

Ledger, CRM, billing, or the files finance still maintains, brought in on a schedule the business can name. Where the source should stay put, we use a shortcut instead of a second copy.

A visible refresh and a failed-load check

The report or a simple status view shows the last successful update. Someone on your side knows the first three things to check when it is late. That note is part of handover.

A publish path finance can recognize

Draft work and the official pack are separated. The people who may publish the close report are named. Wider tenant rules, if you need them, are the Fabric tenant governance work, not a surprise inside the first report.

What a Free Assessment covers

A Free Assessment for Fabric starts from the report or file that is late or disputed. We look at where that number is prepared today, whether Fabric is the right home, and what the first shared table or report should be.

You do not need a full inventory of every workspace. Bring the meeting that hurts and the system the total should match. We follow up within 2 business days with the first slice and what should wait.

FAQs

Do we have to move everything into Fabric?

No. A first slice is usually one finance or revenue number, the system it must match, and the report that meeting opens. Historical reports can stay where they are until that slice is trusted.

Is Fabric the same thing as Power BI?

Power BI reports can run on Fabric capacity, and many teams already have them. Fabric adds the shared data location, the refresh, and the workspace model around those reports. You can improve a Power BI model without adopting every Fabric workload.

Do you sell Fabric capacity?

No. Capacity stays on your Microsoft agreement. We help you use what you have for the reports and data in scope. We do not quote or resell capacity.

What if the real issue is who can create workspaces?

Then the next page to read is Fabric tenant governance. A single report project should not silently become a rewrite of tenant rules. We will say which of the two you actually need.
