Problems this addresses

Fabric tenant governance is how finance can find the official pack and everyone else can still draft. It covers workspaces, domains, who may create items, how publish works, and what you expect from capacity and refresh. It is data-platform governance for analytics. It is not administration of the rest of Microsoft 365.

The symptom is usually a close report that sits beside ten copies, or a refresh that fails because too many experiments share the same capacity. The work is an operating model your owners can run.

Anyone can publish next to the official report

A workspace with no owner becomes a folder of lookalikes. Domains and workspaces give finance a place to publish and other teams a place to try. The rule is who may promote a report into the official app.

Ownership of a number is unclear

A semantic model with no owner cannot be fixed when revenue changes definition. We name an owner for the models and lakehouses in scope, and a way to ask that owner for a change.

Capacity surprises the close

A heavy refresh or an experiment can slow the pack on the morning finance needs it. We set expectations for which workloads matter at the close, and what is paused or moved when capacity is tight. We do not sell or resize capacity for you.

Access is copied from a teammate

People are added because someone else had access, not because the role needs the rows. We write the pattern for publish, read, and build, and we test it against finance and a commercial role.

Hypothetical example. Three workspaces each contain a report named Monthly Revenue. In this hypothetical, only one refreshes from the ledger model, and a leader has pinned a different one. Governance names the official workspace, moves the other two to draft, and tells the pinned audience which app to open. It does not delete history on the first day.

What you leave with

You leave with a workspace and domain pattern, ownership and publish rules, access tested for the roles you care about, and a short operating rhythm. Ongoing reviews can sit with Managed Data Services.

Workspace and domain pattern

Where finance publishes, where revenue publishes, and where experiments live. Existing workspaces are mapped, not all rebuilt.

Publish and ownership rules

Who may create items, who may mark a report as the one leadership uses, and who owns each model in scope. The rule is short enough to enforce.

Access patterns

Build, publish, and read separated. Row-level needs stay with the model work. This engagement does not replace a security program for the whole company.

Refresh and capacity expectations

Which refreshes must finish before the close or the forecast call, and what to do when they do not. Capacity changes stay on your Microsoft agreement.

What a Free Assessment covers

A Free Assessment looks at how a report becomes the one leadership opens today, who can create workspaces, and where refresh pain shows up in the close or the revenue meeting. We say whether you need governance, a single report fix, or both.

Bring the names of the workspaces finance actually uses. A full tenant export can wait. We follow up within 2 business days.

FAQs

Is this Microsoft 365 administration?

No. The scope is Fabric workspaces, domains, analytics access, and the operating rules for those workloads. Mail, devices, and the rest of the tenant stay with whoever already runs them.

Will you turn off self-service?

Not by default. Self-service moves to a draft place with an owner. The official pack gets a tighter publish rule. The point is to know which report is official, not to stop people from exploring.

Do you change our capacity purchase?

No. We describe the pressure the close feels and the workloads involved. Buying or changing capacity stays with you.

How is this different from a lakehouse implementation?

A lakehouse implementation creates the figures. Governance decides who may publish and how the tenant is operated. You can need one, the other, or both. We will not blend them into an unbounded program.
